Luther, Witchcraft and the New Media

Hightlights 2016 - 2018: Rothenburg ob der Tauber invites you to travel back in time to the Reformation and Renaissance.

While other places are forced to rely on complicated scenery or the audience's imagination to breathe life into a journey back to the cradle of the key religious and cultural influences of the Reformation and Renaissance, Rothenburg ob der Tauber can offer you the real thing - a truly authentic experience.

In this case, the town itself provides the perfect backdrop for an adventure through the pioneering ideas, destructive wars and flourishing economic successes witnessed in the 15th and 16th centuries. Ringed by its fortified city walls, Rothenburg offers a splendid combination of impressive architecture, fairytale romance and proud history.

Two unusual exhibitions are dedicated to the Luther years, looking at the Reformation and its impact through the eyes of Martin Luther. While the Imperial Town Museum will look at the first “Likes” and “Shitstorms” in media history, the Museum of Crime with deal with witchcraft and devilry, while historically themed tours will guide visitors step-by-step through the town’s exciting history.
